Janine Benedet, K.C. is a law professor and lawyer from Vancouver, Canada.

Her research focuses on criminal law responses to sexual violence against women, including sexual assault, prostitution, and pornography.  Her research has included a particular focus on sexual violence against women with mental disabilities and teenage girls.  She has represented women’s groups at all levels of court as intervener counsel pro bono in cases involving the commercial sex trade and women’s equality rights and has testified in support of equality model laws in relation to prostitution before the Canadian Parliament.

Professor Benedet has an LLB from the University of British Columbia and an LLM and SJD from the University of Michigan.
